Introduction
The Fund for the Development of Teaching and
Learning is funded by the Higher Education Funding
Council for England and the Department for Employment
and Learning.
The Fund was established in 1995 to support projects
aimed at stimulating developments in teaching
and learning in higher education and to encourage
the dissemination of good teaching and learning
practice across the higher education sector. The
ADEPTT project was funded under Phase 4, and ran
from October 2002 to September 2005.
Aim
The aim of the ADEPTT Project was to enhance
the teaching of part time lecturers in Art and
Design in order to effect change in learning and
teaching in HE, leading to enhanced student learning,
meeting diverse learning needs of students, enhanced
student retention and improved professional knowledge
transfer.
Project Deliverables

Project Feedback
Some of the feedback we have received during
the project has included:
"I would just like to comment on how
interesting and useful I find this project and
only wish that it had been available several years
ago!"
"The ADEPTT sessions involved interaction
between participants, enabling us to share experiences
and advise on a variety of subjects, such as teaching
students with disabilities, or teaching in large
groups. Being aware of other people's methods
approaches and experiences is reassuring and confidence
building."
"The beneifits for part-time lecturers
have been that they feel part of a group, they
can share experiences with their colleagues, gain
support and undersdtand how they fit in."
"Ultimately they will improve their
performance in post, have the opportunity to develop
their teaching skills and the ability to adapt
their teaching to different enviroments ... ...
for the university as a whole the benefits are
ultimately, a skilled workforce and more satisfied
students."
Project Report
The final
report was produced in September 2005
and provides additional detailed information on
the activities, outcomes and impact of the project.
